In a bag, there are coins of 25 p, 10 p and 5 p in the ratio of 1 : 2 : 3. If there is Rs. 30 in all, how many 5 p coins are there?
Answer: Option
Explanation:
Let the number of 25 p, 10 p and 5 p coins be x, 2x, 3x respectively.
Then, sum of their values = Rs. | ![]() |
25x | + | 10 x 2x | + | 5 x 3x | ![]() |
= Rs. | 60x |
100 | 100 | 100 | 100 |
![]() |
60x | = 30 | ![]() |
30 x 100 | = 50. |
100 | 60 |
Hence, the number of 5 p coins = (3 x 50) = 150.

Friends it can be solved from options as:
We have to find out the number 5p coins,
So,
200/5 = 40
100/5 = 20
50/5 = 10
150/5 = 30
Therefore the answer is 150.
We have to find out the number 5p coins,
So,
200/5 = 40
100/5 = 20
50/5 = 10
150/5 = 30
Therefore the answer is 150.

@Habib.
Please guide me where I am going wrong:
Total Amount is Rs 30 = 30 x 60 = 1800p.
Ratio of the coins is 1:2:3 for 25p, 10p, 5p.
Assuming total coins count is n:
(25 x (1/6)n) + (10 x (2/6)n) + (5 x (3/6)n) = 1800.
(25n + 20n + 15n)/6 = 1800.
60n/6 = 1800.
n = 180.
3/6n = 90.
Where is the wrong?

In a row coins like this,
1------- 2.-------3
25p x 1-------10p x 2-------5p x 3.
For one row 60 p.
Re 1. = 100 p,
Rs.30= 3000 p,
Therefore. 3000/60 = 50 row.
per row 3 x 5p.
So answer is 50 x 3 =150 is correct.
1------- 2.-------3
25p x 1-------10p x 2-------5p x 3.
For one row 60 p.
Re 1. = 100 p,
Rs.30= 3000 p,
Therefore. 3000/60 = 50 row.
per row 3 x 5p.
So answer is 50 x 3 =150 is correct.
