15.
In a bag, there are coins of 25 p, 10 p and 5 p in the ratio of 1 : 2 : 3. If there is Rs. 30 in all, how many 5 p coins are there?
50
100
150
200
Answer: Option
Explanation:

Let the number of 25 p, 10 p and 5 p coins be x, 2x, 3x respectively.

Then, sum of their values = Rs. 25x + 10 x 2x + 5 x 3x = Rs. 60x
100 100 100 100

60x = 30     x = 30 x 100 = 50.
100 60

Hence, the number of 5 p coins = (3 x 50) = 150.

I think totally 30 Rs that is 30 one rupee so

1/6:2/6:3/6

30/6=5

5*20 25ps coin:10*100 10ps coin:15*20 5ps coin so

Ratio is 20:100:300

Answer is 300 5ps coins this is correct or wrong reply soon

@ Nithyanantham.

Totally wrong, what you think it is not matter, matter is that what is written in question paper and another thing is that I've not seen this technique in mathematics may be this is advanced technique.

Whenever we perform any calculations
first of all it should be converted into same units

here,
1Rs.=100ps
? =25ps

we get 25/100

Let the number of 25 p, 10 p and 5 p coins be x, 2x, 3x respectively.
25p of x,10p of 2x,5p of 3x;
25p=25/100=1/4;
10p=10/100=1/10;
5p=5/100=1/20;
1x/4 + 2x/10 + 3x/20=30;
5x+4x+3x=600;
12x=600 (3*50)
x=150

I think in the ques it should be 15rs then the answer is correct !

For 30Rs one shud note that 5p coins should be maximum than any other coins (25p & 10ps) since the ratio of coins is 1:2:3.

If 150 coins had to be the answer. Then 25p & 10p shud be lesser than this... which will not in anycase amount to 30rs.

SRJ: you have done some thing wrong as in oyur solution 'x=150'
but that is the no. of 25p coins!!!

AKSHAY said:   1 decade ago
@HABIB

u must recheck your calculations...
As 25p*50= Rs.12.5
10p*100= Rs.10
5p*150= Rs.7.5
AND they all make Rs. 30......

Its Simple
Totally we have Rs.30 = 3000p
25p,10p, 5p are in ratio of 1:2:3 (given)
We can also write it as
No. of coins of 25p = x
No. of coins of 10p = 2x
No. of coins of 5p = 3x
then,
25(x)+10(2x)+5(3x)= 3000
we will find x = 50
No. of coins of 5p = 3*50 = 150
