In a bag, there are coins of 25 p, 10 p and 5 p in the ratio of 1 : 2 : 3. If there is Rs. 30 in all, how many 5 p coins are there?
Answer: Option
Explanation:
Let the number of 25 p, 10 p and 5 p coins be x, 2x, 3x respectively.
Then, sum of their values = Rs. | ![]() |
25x | + | 10 x 2x | + | 5 x 3x | ![]() |
= Rs. | 60x |
100 | 100 | 100 | 100 |
![]() |
60x | = 30 | ![]() |
30 x 100 | = 50. |
100 | 60 |
Hence, the number of 5 p coins = (3 x 50) = 150.

According to me;
By solving by N.R.V.
25p ------- 10p ------- 5p -------25p+10p+5p
n- 1 ------- 2 ------- 3
r- 1/1 ------- 1/2 ------- 1/3
v- 1 ------- 1 ------- 1 =>3*10=30.
So, the total no coin of 5p are 3*10=30.
By solving by N.R.V.
25p ------- 10p ------- 5p -------25p+10p+5p
n- 1 ------- 2 ------- 3
r- 1/1 ------- 1/2 ------- 1/3
v- 1 ------- 1 ------- 1 =>3*10=30.
So, the total no coin of 5p are 3*10=30.

Totally we have Rs.30 = 3000p.
25p, 10p, 5p are in ratio of 1:2:3 .
We can also write it as,
Coins of 25p = x.
Coins of 10p = 2x.
Coins of 5p = 3x.
25(x)+10(2x)+5(3x) = 3000.
x = 50.
No. of coins of 5p = 3*50 = 150.
25p, 10p, 5p are in ratio of 1:2:3 .
We can also write it as,
Coins of 25p = x.
Coins of 10p = 2x.
Coins of 5p = 3x.
25(x)+10(2x)+5(3x) = 3000.
x = 50.
No. of coins of 5p = 3*50 = 150.

Can we solve this way.
There is 1 25 paisa, 2 10 paisa, 3 15 paisa.
That means 25:20:15.
25+20+15 = 60.
For 60ps........ 30
100...... ?
100*30/60 = 50
Total coins is 50 then no of 5ps coins = 3*50 = 150.
There is 1 25 paisa, 2 10 paisa, 3 15 paisa.
That means 25:20:15.
25+20+15 = 60.
For 60ps........ 30
100...... ?
100*30/60 = 50
Total coins is 50 then no of 5ps coins = 3*50 = 150.

Totally wrong, what you think it is not matter, matter is that what is written in question paper and another thing is that I've not seen this technique in mathematics may be this is advanced technique.

In a row coins like this,
1------- 2.-------3
25p x 1-------10p x 2-------5p x 3.
For one row 60 p.
Re 1. = 100 p,
Rs.30= 3000 p,
Therefore. 3000/60 = 50 row.
per row 3 x 5p.
So answer is 50 x 3 =150 is correct.
1------- 2.-------3
25p x 1-------10p x 2-------5p x 3.
For one row 60 p.
Re 1. = 100 p,
Rs.30= 3000 p,
Therefore. 3000/60 = 50 row.
per row 3 x 5p.
So answer is 50 x 3 =150 is correct.

Let the number of 25 p, 10 p and 5 p coins be x, 2x, 3x respectively.
25p of x,10p of 2x,5p of 3x;
25p=25/100=1/4;
10p=10/100=1/10;
5p=5/100=1/20;
1x/4 + 2x/10 + 3x/20=30;
5x+4x+3x=600;
12x=600 (3*50)
x=150
25p of x,10p of 2x,5p of 3x;
25p=25/100=1/4;
10p=10/100=1/10;
5p=5/100=1/20;
1x/4 + 2x/10 + 3x/20=30;
5x+4x+3x=600;
12x=600 (3*50)
x=150

25 paisa=1/4 rupee.
10 paisa=1/10 rupee.
5 paisa=1/20 rupee.
Assume that;
x/4:2x/10:3x/20.
then simplify ratio.
5x:4x:3x.
Then;
5x+4x+3x=30.
x=30/12;
So 3x rupees means
(30/12)*3=7.5;
and 5 paisa means
7.5*20=150.
10 paisa=1/10 rupee.
5 paisa=1/20 rupee.
Assume that;
x/4:2x/10:3x/20.
then simplify ratio.
5x:4x:3x.
Then;
5x+4x+3x=30.
x=30/12;
So 3x rupees means
(30/12)*3=7.5;
and 5 paisa means
7.5*20=150.

30 rupees = 300 paise.
Now,
Rupee ratio = sum of ratios.
5p/Rupee = ratio of 5p/rupee ratio.
Rupee ratio is 6 since 1+2+3=6.
(Number of 5p)5p/300(total number of rupee) = 3/6(total ratio).
5p = 300*3/6 = 150.
