In a bag, there are coins of 25 p, 10 p and 5 p in the ratio of 1 : 2 : 3. If there is Rs. 30 in all, how many 5 p coins are there?

Explanation:
Let the number of 25 p, 10 p and 5 p coins be x, 2x, 3x respectively.
| Then, sum of their values = Rs. |  |
25x | + | 10 x 2x | + | 5 x 3x |  |
= Rs. | 60x |

60x | = 30 |  x = |
30 x 100 | = 50. |

Bag contains 30 Rupees.
Given the ratio 1:2:3.
1) 25paise - (1/6)*30 = 5 Rupees.
2) 10p - (2/6)*30 = 10 Rupees.
3) 5p - (3/6)*30 = 15 Rupees.
There are 20 no: of 5 Paise in a Rupee Therefore there will be 300 nos of 5 Paise in 15 rupees.
Bag contains 30 Rupees.
Given the ratio 1:2:3.

2) 10p - (2/6)*30 = 10 Rupees.
3) 5p - (3/6)*30 = 15 Rupees.

LCM=20, then the ratio is 5:4:3.
Sum of the ratio =12---------60
1---------5
Then 5 = 25,4 = 20,3 = 15.
Convert into coin then 5p coin = 100 * 15/20 = 300.
That's the right answer.

Could you explain why we do not take the sum of ratios in the denominator i.e. (25x/100 + 20x/100 + 15x/100)/6 ?
Because in some problems they have considered the values like 150*2 + 25*2 and then have divided by sum of ratios i.e 4. Please clarify it.

First convert 30rs to paise , ie 3000p.

And given that, their sum is 3000p.
So, 25x + 10(2x) + 5(3x) = 3000 paise
60x = 3000
x=50.
So the value of 5p is 5*3*50 = 750.
But they asked No. Of 5p coins so, -> 750/5 = 150.
Now, 25p:10p:5p = 1:2:3.
And given that, their sum is 3000p.
So, 25x + 10(2x) + 5(3x) = 3000 paise

Now 30 rupees equal to 30*100 paisa now total paisa equal to x*25+2x*10+3x*5=3000.
60x = 3000.

We convert 30Rs into paisa = 3000paisa .
Given= 25p,10p and 15p.
Given ratio 1:2:3.
So we 25 * 1x+10 * 2x+15 * 3x = 3000.
60x =3000.
X=50.
Therefore.
3*50 =150.
It's right one.
