In a race of 200 m, A can beat B by 31 m and C by 18 m. In a race of 350 m, C will beat B by:
22.75 m
25 m
19.5 m
7 4 m
7
Answer: Option
Explanation:

A : B = 200 : 169.

A : C = 200 : 182.

C = C x A = 182 x 200 = 182 : 169.
B A B 200 169

When C covers 182 m, B covers 169 m.

When C covers 350 m, B covers 169 x 350 m = 325 m.
182

Therefore, C beats B by (350 - 325) m = 25 m.

A beats B by 31m, for this A should be at the finishing line (200m) so B distance from starting line is 169 m.

Similarly distance of C from starting line when A is at finishing line = 182m.

So, when C covers 182 m, B covers 169 m.
So
182m C---------------- 169 m B.
1m C---------------169/182m B.
350m C----------------169/182* 350m = 325 m.
So, B covers 325 m when C covers 350 m.
So, the distance between them is 350 - 325 = 25 m.

@Sunita.
Eg: Assume A's speed is twice than B...if A reached 100 km ,that time B reached only 50km.
Ratio of A:B=2:1
In 300 km race ,B reached only 150km,when A reach the goal.
How is it possible:
B's distance when a reached the goal=(1/2)*300=150
Are u agree that.
Same as the ratio of A:B =182:169
So B's distance=(169/182)*350=325...
I think is correct.If any flaw is there,please correct me.

@All.

In 1st race, though it is 200m C covers only 182m as A wins but in 2nd race A is not there, the race is between C and B only. So if C covers 182m then B only covers 169m.

(According to race 1) but now C covers 350m so the distance covered by B = (169/182)*350 ie.325m.

Hence, in 2nd race C-B = 350-325 = 25m.

As A -> 200.
B -> 200 - 31 = 169.
C -> 200 - 18 = 182.

If C covers 182m then B covers 169m so the ratio is B : C = 169 : 182.

As in 350m, let the distance be x then,
200/(182 - 169) = 350/x,
x = 91/4,
x = 22.75.

A : B = 200 : 169.
A : C = 200 : 182.
C/B = (C/A*A/B) = (182/200*200/169) = 182:169.
When C covers 182 m, B covers 169 m.
When C covers 350 m, B covers (169/180*350)m = 325 m,
Therefore, C beats B by (350 - 325) m = 25 m.

The distance between C and B is 13 m when C is at distance 182 m (C is 18 m behind A and A has finished 200 m).

Therefore, its 13 m for 182 m race.
(13/182) * 350 for 350 m race = 25 m.

A-B = 31 since A beats B by 31 m.

A-C = 18 since A beats C by 18 m.

So C-B = 6 i.e C beats B by 6 m when rate is 200 m.

So when race is 350 m it should be (6/200)*350 = 22.75 m.

200 - 31=169,
2000 -18 = 182,
If C goes 182 then B goes 169.
So if C goes 350 then B goes 325.
So C will beat B by (350-325) = 25m.

@ALl

31m means 31 meters NOT 31 minutes.

If 31m is metres than answer is 25 meters.

How did you get @Aishi, C-B = 6? as C-B =13, But anyway answer comes to be 22.75.
