speed=distance/time ;distance=240m,time=24 sec

speed= 10 m/sec

the question is how long the train pass the 650m platform

so time = distance/speed;
=(240+650)/10 m/s

=89 sec

No. It not pass poles and platform. It pass only platform. 240m is train length.

Since it passes both the poles and the platform , the distance been taken as 890m.(240+650)
