Why did we add 240 to 650?
Since we only want to find the time taken to cover 650m.
Anyone, please explain me.

I THINK ANS IS 65 SEC BECAUSE;
Directly calculate the answer;
240 = 24,
650 = X.
Cross multiplication.
240X = 15600.
X = 15600/240.
X = 65 Sec.

X = 15600/240.
X = 65 Sec.

For 240m = 24sec.
==> 1m = 1/10 sec.
Total distance need to travel is (240+650) = 890m.
==>For 890m = 890/10 sec,
= 89Sec.
==> 1m = 1/10 sec.
Total distance need to travel is (240+650) = 890m.
==>For 890m = 890/10 sec,
= 89Sec.

Hi friends,
I tell you the exact reason for why we will and 240 with the plate from length.
Because after 65 seconds the head only reach the last point of the palate form but if the train crosses the plate form then the train will go 240 m ahead so the total meter will be 890. Or you want to calculate time.
So, the time will be 65 s to the platform and another 24 s to cross that platform.
So, it can also add as 65 s + 24 s = 89 s.

@All.
When train at starting point of platform and its a start of train so remaining train is till not on platform so train will take platform length and train length too. That"s why we have to add both.

I think there's no need to add 240. They have only asked what's the time to cross platform. Thus the answer must me 65secs.

Speed = distance/time.
240/24 m/sec =10 m/sec.
So required time is;
time = distance/speed.
= 240+650/10 sec.
= 89 sec.
240/24 m/sec =10 m/sec.
So required time is;
time = distance/speed.
= 240+650/10 sec.
= 89 sec.
