Present age ratio F:S = 1:4
After 8 years(2.5:1) = 5:2.
1p = 8 years
5p = 40 years 2p =16.
Another 8 years later. 48:24 = 2:1.

Here is how 5:2 comes;

Initially it was 2.5:1.
To remove the decimal point,we need to multiply by 10 in the numerator and denominator also.
= 2.5/1 x10/10.
= 25/10 (on cancellation with 5, it becomes),
= 5:2.

It should be 3x + 8 = 5/2 (x+8).

If we will take Rohit's age I think it should be 3x (x+3).
If we will take Rohit's age as 1 it can be 4 only.

Correct me, If I am wrong.

How it's 16 years? Can anyone please explain?

It is 4x not 3x. (As Krithika said).

If the given statement is "Father is aged three times of his son Ronit's age", then it will be 3x.

But, the given statement is "Father is aged three times more than his son Ronit". So, it should be 4x.

Some answers to your other doubts:

1. How 5/2 came? Ans: "Two and a half times" can be written as 2.5 or 5/2.

2. How 16 came? Ans: 8 Years + Further 8 Years = 16 years.

It should be 3x + 8 = 5/2 (x+8).

The right answer is 3.

At first it is;
1 : 4.

then;
2 : 5.

Here difference after 8 years is 1.
1 part = 8 years.

Again we increase 8 years;
3 : 6.

How ratio be calculated in this question? Please explain to me.

Present ages F : S = 4:1(because father is 3 times more than son which is 4-1 =3)
Father = 4R.
Son = R.

After 8 years
F: S = 2.5 : 1.

(4R + 8)(R+8) = 2.5
4R + 8 = 2.5(R + 8),
4R + 8 = 2.5R + 20,
4R - 2.5R = 20 - 8.
1.5R = 12.
R=12/1.5 = 8.
If R is 8 then 4R is 4(8)= 32, that is, father's age after 8 years.
So, after 16(that is, after 8 years + after 8 years).
F = 32 + 16 = 48.
S = 8 + 16 = 24.
F:S = 48:24 = 2:1.
That is Father's age 2 times more than son after another 8 years.
