A man is 24 years older than his son. In two years, his age will be twice the age of his son. The present age of his son is:
Answer: Option
Explanation:
Let the son's present age be x years. Then, man's present age = (x + 24) years.
(x + 24) + 2 = 2(x + 2)
x + 26 = 2x + 4
x = 22.

The answer are given is for sons age so add 2 to all the answers are given.
16, 20, 22, 24.
So after two years his father age will be double so.
32, 40, 44, 48.
But the difference is already given that is 24.
If the Father age increases and also the sons age increases so 24 is constant so 24 double is the answer that is 48.
Thank you.

The answer is 20.
Suppose the son's present age is x, so father age is x+24.
After 2 years,
Father's age will be x+26 and son age will be x+2
So according to the condition as father's age is double of son's age then,
x+26=2(x+2),
x=22,
This is son's future age(i.e. After 2 years),
So the present age of son is 22-2=20.
Suppose the son's present age is x, so father age is x+24.
After 2 years,
Father's age will be x+26 and son age will be x+2
So according to the condition as father's age is double of son's age then,
x+26=2(x+2),
x=22,
This is son's future age(i.e. After 2 years),
So the present age of son is 22-2=20.

A man is 24 years older than his son.
Let us take son's age as X. So, father's age will be X+24.
In two years, son's age X+2.
Father's age X+24+2 = X+26.
His (Father's) age will be twice the age of his son.
X+26 = 2(X+2) (Twice the age of his son. So twice Son's age).
X+26 = 2X+4.
22 = X.
By solving, X = 22.
Let us take son's age as X. So, father's age will be X+24.

X+26 = 2(X+2) (Twice the age of his son. So twice Son's age).
X+26 = 2X+4.
22 = X.
By solving, X = 22.

In this question people solve this problem by taking x as a 2 year back when father (x) is 24 year more then son (y).
x = y+24.
After two years.
x+2 = 2(y+2) -----------equation 1.
Put x value in equation 1.
y+24+2 = 2y+4.
y = 22.
Why value is 2 year previous is 22?
So present age of son is 24.
x = y+24.
After two years.
x+2 = 2(y+2) -----------equation 1.
Put x value in equation 1.
y+24+2 = 2y+4.
y = 22.
Why value is 2 year previous is 22?
So present age of son is 24.

What's wrong with This method....
Let x be present age of man and y be present age of son.
Now,
Man is 24 years older than his son.So,
x = y + 24......(1)
Again acc to Question after two years he will be twice his sons age
x+2 = 2y......(2)
Solving eq (1) and (2)
y = 26
Let x be present age of man and y be present age of son.
Now,
Man is 24 years older than his son.So,
x = y + 24......(1)
Again acc to Question after two years he will be twice his sons age
x+2 = 2y......(2)
Solving eq (1) and (2)
y = 26

Hello Every body. I have one doubt.
In the question they said the father age is 24 years.
After coming 2 years his age will be twice of his son's age.
Finally we got sons age 22.
So now father age is twice of sons age as per question.
According to that now father age will be 44?

Son age x,
Father age x+24,
After two year mean you will add 2 in both side.
(x+24+2) = (x+2).
Father age is twice as son age i.e. (x+24+2) = 2(x+2).
x+26 = 2x+4.
::22 = x.
But in question he asked present age of son so we have to subtract 2 the answer will be 20 right?

Here, We are bringing all the x terms to one side and number to the other side so,
And another in our case you are multiplying 24 and x = 24x.
But in the case of the solution, there is + symbol in between 24 and x so, we should add it
We should not multiply it.

You should take father and son's age.
so U take both the ages in both sides
SO,
(x+24)+2=2(X=2)
(x+24)+2 means
Farther's age +2 years,
2(x+2) Means
Son's Age then 2 is used for twice as father age.
Now clear,then solve the equation.. you ll get the ans..

@All.
As some people said 22-2 =20 is answer.
I would say that better to check the options in this case if 20 is the answer after 2 years he will be 22 and his father will be 46 which is not twice relation so In this way you can verify your answer.
