GIVEN:a man is 24 yrs older thn his son
let us take sons age as x
thn fathers age will be 24+x
this can be written in equation form as 24+x=x ->equ 1
after 2yrs fathers age and sons age will be as
24+x+2=x+2 ->equ 2
GIVEN:after 2yrs fa age will b twice as sons age
therefore equ 2 becames as 24+x+2=2(x+2)
24+x+2=2x+4
26+x=2x+4
-> x=22

You should take father and son's age.
so U take both the ages in both sides
SO,
(x+24)+2=2(X=2)
(x+24)+2 means
Farther's age +2 years,
2(x+2) Means
Son's Age then 2 is used for twice as father age.
Now clear,then solve the equation.. you ll get the ans..

So when we get the answer we should subtract 2 years so that we will be getting the present age. Some body please clarify my doubt.

So why it is not 20 ?

But as per question the father will be twice old as his son so we need to double fathers age and not sons age.

Hello Every body. I have one doubt.

In the question they said the father age is 24 years.

After coming 2 years his age will be twice of his son's age.

Finally we got sons age 22.

So now father age is twice of sons age as per question.

According to that now father age will be 44?

I didn't got how (x + 24) + 2 = 2(x + 2) .

2(x+2) first two is twice of his age . x is son age.+2 is after 2 years

Why we put twice with sons age instead of father as in the statement father age is twice of sons age?

Please explain it.
