At present, the ratio between the ages of Arun and Deepak is 4 : 3. After 6 years, Arun's age will be 26 years. What is the age of Deepak at present ?
Answer: Option
Explanation:
Let the present ages of Arun and Deepak be 4x years and 3x years respectively. Then,
4x + 6 = 26
4x = 20
x = 5.
Deepak's age = 3x = 15 years.

Let y is the present age of deepak
take ratio as 4X/3X
aftr 6 yrs, (4x+6)/(3x+6)=26/y
first consider numerator,
4x+6=26
4x=20
x=5
now consider
3x=y
3(5)=y
y=15 (No need to add 6 bec present age only they have asked)

Really simple and clear logic behind it !
Read problem carefully,
2nd statement is very imp.
as per 2nd statement arun's current age is=(26-6)=20 yrs
now 1st statement ,
ratio of age 4:3
4 is for arun age
therefore 20/4=5
now deepak current age as per ratio 5*3=15 year
Have nice day!

Hi friends...Here is a simple method to solve this problem...
Let arun age be x and deepak age be y
The ratio of ages are x/y = 4/3...
from the above equation we can write.
x=4y/3......(1)
given that after 6 years arun age will be 26 years..
x+6 = 26....
4y/3 + 6 = 26.
4y/3 = 20.
4y = 60.
y = 15.
Hence,deepak age is 15 years..
susbstitute the x value from eq (1).

Why not 19. 5. As x=5. Hence x=3y/.

Age =x
Ration of arun and deepak is 4:3
After 6 year arun age wil be 26
So, 4x+6=26
= x=5
Deepak age wil be =3x=15
Ration of arun and deepak is 4:3
After 6 year arun age wil be 26
So, 4x+6=26
= x=5
Deepak age wil be =3x=15

Anyone please explain this problem.
Last year pandit was thrice his sister's age. Next year he is only twice her age. After 5 years what is pandit's age.

The answer derived is not very clear. Most descriptions required before the last step.

Arun age 4x+6=26----------->1
4 is ratio x is variable n 26 is his present age
Deepak age y=3x------------>2
Here y is taken for just to equate, x is variable
Now simplify eq 1
4x=26-6 ==> x=5
Sub x value in eq 2
y=3*5 (y is deepak's age)
y=15
That's it:)
