At present, the ratio between the ages of Arun and Deepak is 4 : 3. After 6 years, Arun's age will be 26 years. What is the age of Deepak at present ?
Answer: Option
Explanation:
Let the present ages of Arun and Deepak be 4x years and 3x years respectively. Then,
4x + 6 = 26
4x = 20
x = 5.
Deepak's age = 3x = 15 years.

After 6 years the age of Arun = 26.
Present age of Arun is 26-6 = 20.
=> 4/3 = 20/x.
=> x = 20*3/4.
=> x = 15.
Present age of Arun is 26-6 = 20.
=> 4/3 = 20/x.
=> x = 20*3/4.
=> x = 15.

Hello @Sohpia.
The derived answer is very clear. Just look following.
Arun age : Deepak age = 4:3.
Let age = x years.
Age of Arun = 4x years.
Age of Deepak = 3x years.
After 6 year Arun age = 4x years + 6 years = 26.
==> x = 5.
Hence age of Arun = 4x = 4*5 = 20 years.
Age of Deepak = 3x = 3*5 = 15 years.
The derived answer is very clear. Just look following.
Arun age : Deepak age = 4:3.

Age of Deepak = 3x = 3*5 = 15 years.

Arun age : 4x
Deepak age : 3x.
Then, after 6 yrs Arun age will be 26 : 4x + 6 = 26.
Then, 4x = 20.
x = 5.
Since we need to find Deepak age : 3x = 3 * 5 =15.
Deepak age : 3x.
Then, after 6 yrs Arun age will be 26 : 4x + 6 = 26.
Then, 4x = 20.
x = 5.
Since we need to find Deepak age : 3x = 3 * 5 =15.

This is the simple one.
Present ratio of age is 4 : 3.
Then Aruns future age is 26 after 6 year.
Then 26 - 6 = 20.
Now 20 is from 4 * 5 Aruns present age.
Then Deepak's present age is 3 * 5 = 15.
Present ratio of age is 4 : 3.
Then Aruns future age is 26 after 6 year.
Then 26 - 6 = 20.
Now 20 is from 4 * 5 Aruns present age.
Then Deepak's present age is 3 * 5 = 15.

Arun's current age = 20.
Deepak's age = we don't know (x).
Therefore equation can be written with respect to current age as;
4x/3x = 20/x,
X = 60/4,
X = 15 years.
Deepak's age = we don't know (x).
Therefore equation can be written with respect to current age as;
4x/3x = 20/x,
X = 60/4,
X = 15 years.

There given that the present age of arun and Deepak are 4:3.
So first of all consider the aruns age as 4x and Deepak age is 3x.
And next there is given after 6 means then aruns age after 6 years means 4x+6.
And there is alredy given aruns age is 26 compare both ages i.e. 4x+6=26->4x=20->x=5.
Here we get x=5 then consider present age of Deepak age is 3x so substitute x value there the we get his age is 15 so answer is 15.

Why not it is 11?
Because we calculated the x value using Arun's age after 6 years so when we got an answer as 15 we have to deduct that 6 years right.

Consider son's age as 'x' and father's as 'y' so,
x + y = 60.
Then six years ago,
y-6 = 5(x-6).
y-6 = 5x-30.
y = 5x-24.
x+5x-24 = 60.
6x = 84.
x = 84/6 = 14.
So after 6 years 14 + 6 = 20 years old.
x + y = 60.
Then six years ago,
y-6 = 5(x-6).
y-6 = 5x-30.
y = 5x-24.
x+5x-24 = 60.
6x = 84.
x = 84/6 = 14.
So after 6 years 14 + 6 = 20 years old.
