2.
Two students appeared at an examination. One of them secured 9 marks more than the other and his marks was 56% of the sum of their marks. The marks obtained by them are:
Answer: Option
Explanation:
Let their marks be (x + 9) and x.
Then, x + 9 = | 56 | (x + 9 + x) |
100 |
25(x + 9) = 14(2x + 9)
3x = 99
x = 33
So, their marks are 42 and 33.

@Archana:
Divide 56/100 by 4 and you'll Get 14/25
bring the 25 to L.H.S
and you will get
25(x+9)=14(x+9+x)
now add two x's in R.H.S
25(x+9)=14(2x+9)

The diff two students marks % is 9.
56%-44% = 9 marks.
Then 12% = 9 marks.
Then 100% = 9*100/12 = 75 marks.
You have to check the answer is 42,33.
56%-44% = 9 marks.
Then 12% = 9 marks.
Then 100% = 9*100/12 = 75 marks.
You have to check the answer is 42,33.

Let their marks be (x + 9) and x.
Then, x + 9 = 56/100(x + 9 + x).
25(x + 9) = 14(2x + 9),
3x = 99,
x = 33.
So, their marks are 42 and 33.
Then, x + 9 = 56/100(x + 9 + x).
25(x + 9) = 14(2x + 9),
3x = 99,
x = 33.
So, their marks are 42 and 33.

How can you guys are multiplying with x+x+9?
Is 56% is total marks scored by both of 2 students.
I am getting confused. Please explain.

Let's take x, x+9; of their marks.
x=44/100*(x+x+9) or -+9=56/100*(x+x+9).
Solve; eq x =33. And another x+9.
33+9=42.
x=44/100*(x+x+9) or -+9=56/100*(x+x+9).
Solve; eq x =33. And another x+9.
33+9=42.

@All.
Hello.
Simply, the solution is;
A = x+9,
B = x,
x+9 = 56%(x+x+9),
x+9 = 56/100(2x+9),
x = 33,
A = 33 + 9 = 42.
B = 33.

I am confused it says the sum of their marks. Then it should be like this.
x + x + 9 = 56/100.
Can anyone explain this?
x + x + 9 = 56/100.
Can anyone explain this?

How do you come on this step
x + 9 = 56/100 (x + 9 + x)
25(x + 9) = 14(2x + 9)
Please explain in simple way.
x + 9 = 56/100 (x + 9 + x)
25(x + 9) = 14(2x + 9)
Please explain in simple way.
