Answer: Option
Explanation:
Let their marks be (x + 9) and x.
Then, x + 9 = | 56 | (x + 9 + x) |
100 |
25(x + 9) = 14(2x + 9)

I am confused it says the sum of their marks. Then it should be like this.
x + x + 9 = 56/100.
Can anyone explain this?
x + x + 9 = 56/100.
Can anyone explain this?

Why do we equate it to x + 9? Why not x?

It's very simple.
If 1student got 56% that means other got 44%.
56 - 44 = 12%.
Fr 12%~9 is there,
So, for 100% ~99.
Only pair which satisfies it is 39 & 30.
That it.

Let's say 'x' is the mark of the first person.
Then from the question, the mark of a 2nd person is 'x + 9'.
Since the percentage of the 2nd person is given i.e. 56%.
We can solve the x value using the below formula.
Per% of 2nd person = mark of 2nd person * 100/ (total marks i.e x + x + 9).
56 = ((x + 9) *100) / (x + x + 9).
Then from the question, the mark of a 2nd person is 'x + 9'.

We can solve the x value using the below formula.
Per% of 2nd person = mark of 2nd person * 100/ (total marks i.e x + x + 9).
56 = ((x + 9) *100) / (x + x + 9).

Try by Back Solving Method:
Lets try c: 42, 33 so it means total marks are : 42 + 33 = 75 Marks.
Let's try to find out 56 % from marks given in option C.
42 * 100/75 = 56 %
33 * 100/75 = 44 %.
So option C is the correct answer .
Lets try c: 42, 33 so it means total marks are : 42 + 33 = 75 Marks.
Let's try to find out 56 % from marks given in option C.
42 * 100/75 = 56 %
33 * 100/75 = 44 %.
So option C is the correct answer .

@Sawant.
= 30/100*x = 180*100/30.
x = (180*100/30)100/30.
x = 270.
= 30/100*x = 180*100/30.
x = (180*100/30)100/30.
x = 270.
