Y cant tis be 150??
2/3 of x=48
x=72 is students at age 8
72+48=120 can be equated with 80%
remaining 20% must be added to this.
80%=120
20%=x
x=30
hence total=120+30=150 is total number of students...is tis right???

It is the language of the question that creates confusion. It is not clear whether no. of students ab0ve 8 is 48 0r students of 8 years age is 48.

20% +48 + ?
68, therefore 2/3* 48
=32
add
32+48+20
68, therefore 2/3* 48
=32
add
32+48+20

Student below 8 years-------20%
So the rest 80% =(above 8 + exact 8)
Given above 8 =2/3 of students of exact 8 (i.e)48, so
Above 8==2/3*48
=32.
So total students will be 100%(20%+80%)
=20%+(above 8+ exact 8)
=20%+(32+48)
=20%+(80)
For 80%-------80
For 100%------?
Cross multiply 100*80/80==100.
So the rest 80% =(above 8 + exact 8)
Given above 8 =2/3 of students of exact 8 (i.e)48, so
Above 8==2/3*48
=32.
So total students will be 100%(20%+80%)
=20%+(above 8+ exact 8)
=20%+(32+48)
=20%+(80)
For 80%-------80
For 100%------?
Cross multiply 100*80/80==100.
