Rs. 200
Rs. 250
Rs. 300
None of these
Answer: Option
Explanation:

Let the sum paid to Y per week be Rs. z.

Then, z + 120% of z = 550.

z + 120 z = 550

@Aishwarya.

It is simple. You take the reciprocal of 220/100 to RHS and multiply it with 550.

Why 100/220*550?

It should be 100*220/550 which gives final answer as 40.

Please help me.

Let amount paid to Y = 100.
Amount paid to X = 120% of 100.
= 120/100 * 100.
= 120.
Total (X+Y) = 100 + 120 = 220.
If now total is 550 then;
100/220 * 550 = 250.
Therefore the amount paid to Y = 250.
