x+y = 550.....(1).
x = 120% of y,
x = 120/100*y = >6/5*y,
Put he value in eq(1)we get,
6/5*y+y = 550,
(6y+5y)/5 = 550,
11y = 550*5,
y = 2750/11,
y = 250.

Total is 550.
x is 120% more than y.
Then x+y is (100+120)%.
Then 220/100*y = 550.
550*100/220 = 250.
y = 250.

Now total payment is (k+1.2k)=2.2k, which is equal to 550.
So, 2.2k=550,
or,k=250 answer.
