Let amount paid to Y = 100.
Amount paid to X = 120% of 100.
= 120/100 * 100.
= 120.
Total (X+Y) = 100 + 120 = 220.
If now total is 550 then;
100/220 * 550 = 250.
Therefore the amount paid to Y = 250.
Amount paid to X = 120% of 100.
= 120/100 * 100.
= 120.
Total (X+Y) = 100 + 120 = 220.
If now total is 550 then;
100/220 * 550 = 250.
Therefore the amount paid to Y = 250.

1st statement: Total of X+Y = 550.....(1).
2nd statement: X = (120/100)Y = 6Y/5.....(2).
Substituting (2) in (1), we get:
(6Y/5 + Y) = 550.
Thus Y = 250.
2nd statement: X = (120/100)Y = 6Y/5.....(2).
Substituting (2) in (1), we get:
(6Y/5 + Y) = 550.
Thus Y = 250.

Ratio = 120:100 = 6:5 so 550 = 11x then 5x = 250.
