Total X+Y=550rs,
Y=550-X,
By questions:
X=(120/100)*(550-X)---> eq(1)
By solving equations(1).
X=300rs.
Y=250rs.
Y=550-X,
By questions:
X=(120/100)*(550-X)---> eq(1)
By solving equations(1).
X=300rs.
Y=250rs.

x + y = 550.
120% + 100% = 550,
6 + 5 = 550,
11 = 550,
550/11 = 50.
5 * 50 = 250,
So, answer = 250.
120% + 100% = 550,
6 + 5 = 550,
11 = 550,
550/11 = 50.
5 * 50 = 250,
So, answer = 250.

First, find the ratio, X is paid 120%, Y is paid 100, so.
120 : 100 = 6 : 5.
550 = 11x.
5x = 250.
120 : 100 = 6 : 5.
550 = 11x.
5x = 250.

x+y = 550.
x = 120/100*y.
y = 550-y, Put to the second equation.
we got x=300, y=550-x.
y = 250.
x = 120/100*y.
y = 550-y, Put to the second equation.
we got x=300, y=550-x.
y = 250.

@Aishwarya.
It is simple. You take the reciprocal of 220/100 to RHS and multiply it with 550.

Why 100/220*550?
It should be 100*220/550 which gives final answer as 40.
Please help me.

x+y=550. So you can imagine 550 is 200%.
120% of 550 is 300.
Simply 550-300 = 250.
120% of 550 is 300.
Simply 550-300 = 250.

Let x + y = 550,
x = 120% of y,
1.2y + y = 550,
2.2y = 550,
y = 550/2.2,
y = 250.
x = 120% of y,
1.2y + y = 550,
2.2y = 550,
y = 550/2.2,
y = 250.
