In this type of questions we can go through options carefully and can judge 57% as ans instead of caluclating that big numbers/ 50%20400 is 10200 and total is near to that..

I think this very easy question & Iwill try to solve in very easy way.
Now see,

Total number of votes are = (1136 + 7636 + 11628) = 20400
in which 11628 votes are the highest num. of votes & the candidate who has the highest num of votes is a winner.

Now, we find What percentage of the total votes did the winning candidate get?
And already the % of votes is given in answers, we just try check it whether or not the given % of total num of votes equals to the highest num. of votes.

i.e 57% of 20400 = 11628 (highest num of votes i.e winner)

(57/100) * 20400 = 11628.
So. therefore answer is option (a).57%.

How come 11628/20400? Please explain me.

They consider votes of the third person as a winner because the third person got the highest votes. In generic life who gets highest votes that one is the winner.

Let the total taken as 100.

20400->100
then;
11628->?
so,
100*11628/20400 = 57.

The total votes are 1136 + 7636 + 11628 = 20400.
x*20400/100 = 11628.

By solving we get x=57% which is the required answer.

How to find out the winning candidate there is not specified? Anyone, please explain to me.

The person with the maximum number of votes is the winning candidate.

Third candidate received more votes compare than other 2 candidates, so third candidate is winner.
