A, B and C jointly thought of engaging themselves in a business venture. It was agreed that A would invest Rs. 6500 for 6 months, B, Rs. 8400 for 5 months and C, Rs. 10,000 for 3 months. A wants to be the working member for which, he was to receive 5% of the profits. The profit earned was Rs. 7400. Calculate the share of B in the profit.
Answer: Option
Explanation:
For managing, A received = 5% of Rs. 7400 = Rs. 370.
Balance = Rs. (7400 - 370) = Rs. 7030.
Ratio of their investments = (6500 x 6) : (8400 x 5) : (10000 x 3)
= 39000 : 42000 : 30000
= 13 : 14 : 10

A received = 5% of profit for Rs:7,400
= 5/100 * 7,400
= RS:370.
Balance=7,4000-370=Rs:7030
Ratio of their investment= (A's share*month):(B's share*month):(C's share*month)
= (6500*6):(8400*5):(10000*3)
= 39000:42000:30000
= 39000/30000:42000/30000:30000/30000
= 13:14:10.
A = 13, B = 14,C = 10.
So, total = 13 + 14 + 10 = 37.
Therefore B's share=(14/100*37)
= Rs. 2660
= 5/100 * 7,400
= RS:370.
Balance=7,4000-370=Rs:7030
Ratio of their investment= (A's share*month):(B's share*month):(C's share*month)
= (6500*6):(8400*5):(10000*3)
= 39000:42000:30000
= 39000/30000:42000/30000:30000/30000
= 13:14:10.
A = 13, B = 14,C = 10.
So, total = 13 + 14 + 10 = 37.
Therefore B's share=(14/100*37)
= Rs. 2660

Why do we need to subtract A's shares and then get B's shares?, doesn't it mean we are increasing B's shares?
Anyone, Please explain to me.

@Janu.
A is earning 5% extra than others so we have to subtract it then it will be shared among three according to their period of invest.

But when profit sharing ratio is not given we take it as 1:1:1 not the investing ratio. It is written in partnership deed.

A's investment-65000 for 6 months = (65000 * 6)
B' investment-84000 for 5 months = (84000 * 5)
C' investment-10000 for 3 months = (10000 * 3).
Multiplying;
A : B : C = 390 : 420 : 300.
Simplifying (divide by 3)
13 : 14 : 10.
The Total profit earned is 7400 in that 'A' got 5% of the profit.
Therefore,5/100(7400) = 370.
This is A's share in total profit of 7400 we want the balance amount
7400 - 370 = 7030.
B's share = B's ratio/Total ratio(Balance Amount)
14/37(7030)=2060
Correct if I am wrong.
B' investment-84000 for 5 months = (84000 * 5)
C' investment-10000 for 3 months = (10000 * 3).
Multiplying;
A : B : C = 390 : 420 : 300.
Simplifying (divide by 3)
13 : 14 : 10.
The Total profit earned is 7400 in that 'A' got 5% of the profit.
Therefore,5/100(7400) = 370.
This is A's share in total profit of 7400 we want the balance amount
7400 - 370 = 7030.
B's share = B's ratio/Total ratio(Balance Amount)
14/37(7030)=2060
Correct if I am wrong.

Can you explain why we get the ratio by multiplying the amount with shared time? Please tell me.

If we subtract a profit from total profit 7400-370=7030. Which means this 7030 is the share of remaining b and c.
