On dividing a number by 56, we get 29 as remainder. On dividing the same number by 8, what will be the remainder ?
4
5
6
7
Answer: Option
Explanation:

Formula: (Divisor*Quotient) + Remainder = Dividend.

Soln:

(56*Q)+29 = D -------(1)

D%8 = R -------------(2)

From equation(2),

((56*Q)+29)%8 = R.

=> Assume Q = 1.

=> (56+29)%8 = R.

=> 85%8 = R

=> 5 = R.

Easily we can say that the same number is divided by 8. The previous remainder is 28. When 28 is divided by 8 the remainder is 5.

Answer is 5.

Divisor=56 and remainder=29.

So dividend =divisor + remainder i.e. 85.

85/8=leaver remainder 5.

Short cut:.

(Dividend=divisor+ remainder).

Let x be the number and y be the quotient. Then,

x = 56 x y + 29.
= (8 x 7 x y) + (8 x 3) + 5.
= 8 x (7y + 3) + 5).

Required remainder = 5.

When we divide no by 56 R = 29

i.e if we add (56 - 29 = 27) 27 to no. then no is divisible by 56

Same as 29/8 = 3 (29 - 24 = 5)

Ans is 5.

Simple way.

No need to do all this.

A number is divided by 56 and remainder was 29.
So 56+29=85.

Again 85/8 the remainder is 5 (answer).

What should be added to the dividend so that there is no remainder in 112/5?

Can anybody tell me how to solve this and what is the answer?

Assume the number is 56 + 29 = 85,
85 = 56x1 + 29.

When it is divided by 8,
85/8 = 8x10 + 5,
or 29 = 3x8 + 5,
Hence the remainder is 5.

Suppose number is x then,
(x-29)/56 = 0 ..... 1.
x/8 = ? .... 2.

From 1 we get x = 29.
Put these value in 2.
29/8 = 5 answer.

56*29=1624 add 29 to get remainder 29 i.e. 1653 now divide it the remainder will be 29, simple and now divide by 8 we get remainder 5.

If divisor is completely divisible by new divisor then, we should devide the remainder.

29/8 = remainder is 5.

so, ans would be 5.
