27.
On dividing a number by 56, we get 29 as remainder. On dividing the same number by 8, what will be the remainder ?
Answer: Option
Explanation:
Formula: (Divisor*Quotient) + Remainder = Dividend.
Soln:
(56*Q)+29 = D -------(1)
D%8 = R -------------(2)
From equation(2),
((56*Q)+29)%8 = R.
=> Assume Q = 1.
=> (56+29)%8 = R.
=> 85%8 = R
=> 5 = R.

Let's make this sum very simple by making a small assumption,
(Since they said the no is divisible by 56 and leaves the remainder 29)
The first no that is divisible by 56 is 56 × 1 = 56.
As they said it leaves the remainder 29.
-->56 + 29 = 85.
Which is divided by 8 so leaves the remainder 5.
Answer:b)5

Let the quotient be k.
Therefore the number will be 56k + 29.
= 8*7k + 8*3 + 5,
= (8*7k+8*3) + 5,
= 8*(7k+3) + 5,
This is in the form of divisor * quotient + remainder.
Therefore the remainder is 5.
Hope it helps.

Assume the number is 56 + 29 = 85,
85 = 56x1 + 29.
When it is divided by 8,
85/8 = 8x10 + 5,
or 29 = 3x8 + 5,
Hence the remainder is 5.
85 = 56x1 + 29.
When it is divided by 8,
85/8 = 8x10 + 5,
or 29 = 3x8 + 5,
Hence the remainder is 5.

In a simple way :
56+29=85.
Here 85/56 we will get 29 as the remainder.
Again;
85/8 we will get 5 as the remainder.
56+29=85.
Here 85/56 we will get 29 as the remainder.
Again;
85/8 we will get 5 as the remainder.

Simple unitary method.
If x/56 = x-29 ; then, x/8 = rem?
Sol. (x-29)*x/8 = x/56
Solving the eq, we get x= 29.
Now, divide 29 by 8.
The answer is 5.

We can solve this type of question by a simple trick.
We know 56*3=168.
Now add 29 to 168 =197.
Now 197/56 remainder is 29(Because we add 29).
So, now 197/8 remainder is 5.
We know 56*3=168.
Now add 29 to 168 =197.
Now 197/56 remainder is 29(Because we add 29).
So, now 197/8 remainder is 5.

When any two numbers are divided, they are related as Divisor*Quotient + Remainder = Dividend
Now we know the divisor, and the remainder
Let's assume quotient as 1
then in our case 56*1 + 29 = 85 is the number which gives remainder as 29 when divided by 6
Dividend this same number by 8 gives us the remainder as 5.
Alternative,
Let the dividend be 56*Q + 29, where Q is the quotient
Now dividing this same number by 8, there are two things
1. Since 56 is divisible by 8 therefore 56*Q will give us 0 remainder
2. Dividing 29 by 8 will give us remainder 5
In short the only way to to attempt the question is divided the number by previous divisor and the remainder individually and add the result.
