Directions to Solve
In each of the following questions two statements are given and these statements are followed by two conclusions numbered (1) and (2). You have to take the given two statements to be true even if they seem to be at variance from commonly known facts. Read the conclusions and then decide which of the given conclusions logically follows from the two given statements, disregarding commonly known facts.
Give answer:
- (A) If only (1) conclusion follows
- (B) If only (2) conclusion follows
- (C) If either (1) or (2) follows
- (D) If neither (1) nor (2) follows and
- (E) If both (1) and (2) follow.

We have to consider the common conclusions of all possibilities (all the Venn diagrams). In this case, we got none. So, option D is correct.

I think option A is correct. Option B does not match with the 2nd figure.

Some cows are elephants, that is what I inferred from the second diagram.
So should the answer not be option A?
So should the answer not be option A?

No, D is correct. The clue is in the words order of the second statements. If the second statement is like "some elephant are crows",then option A is correct.

I'm not able to understand, two possible vein diagram have been drawn. The second conclusion has been complete overruled, as no possible diagram satisfies it, but the first conclusion is satisfied by one of the two diagrams, then why neither follows?

A is the right option! though it is a possibility. We have to consider it! there is a possibility that some elephants cannot be crows! but we have to choose 1 as the option!

I think so, option (A) is correct. If some cows are crows and some crows are elephants then, of course, some cows will be elephants. Can anyone justify how option (D) is correct?

RULE: to solve problems of syllogism, one should draw every possible Venn diagrams and a conclusion is right if it satisfies ALL Venn diagrams.
