Directions to Solve

In each of the following questions two statements are given and these statements are followed by two conclusions numbered (1) and (2). You have to take the given two statements to be true even if they seem to be at variance from commonly known facts. Read the conclusions and then decide which of the given conclusions logically follows from the two given statements, disregarding commonly known facts.

Give answer:

  • (A) If only (1) conclusion follows
  • (B) If only (2) conclusion follows
  • (C) If either (1) or (2) follows
  • (D) If neither (1) nor (2) follows and
  • (E) If both (1) and (2) follow.

9.

Statements: Some cows are crows. Some crows are elephants.

Conclusions:

  1. Some cows are elephants.
  2. All crows are elephants.

Only (1) conclusion follows
Only (2) conclusion follows

Neither (1) nor (2) follows

Option A is not the correct answer because the relationship between the cows and elephants is not established through the statements and cannot be determined through an intermediary called "crows".

The second Venn diagram is possible but not so, however, the first Venn diagram is always true.

So, we have to assume that the first Venn diagram is the correct representation unless more details are provided, I hope this helps.

@All.

According to me, the first diagram is correct and the second diagram is wrong. Because there is no statement that says cows and elephants are connected.

Here Option D is correct.

If you get any questions in which only some is using then these types of questions do have not any conclusions

The right statement option should be given.

1) some cows are crows and elephants.
2) some crows are cows and elephants.
3) some elephants are cows and crows.

If we say that cow(A) is subset of crow(B) and, crow(B) is subset of elephant(C).
Then cow(A) will be subset of elephant(C) (if we do the venn diagram) .
Hence, only (1) conclusion follows.
