To avoid confusion assume yourself as B sitting facing towards south then you will realize that B is left of D and E is right of D.

The answer assumes the direction as below:
  N
W E
  S

But without specific information, following directions are also possible:
  S
E W
  N

  E
N S
  W

  W
S N
  E

Since the question does not state that the men and women are facing each other, any other solutions based on the above direction logic also would be correct.

Question is correct. Because direction is given d faced of south so its left as the right of other person whose faced is north.

There is another possible case which satisfies all the conditions but not the answers:

A E C D B.
M O N P Q.

Does the diagonal ends mean C and N must have to be at the ends?

Hi,

I think questions and answer are correct.

--/---/---/---/---/--- R <-----> L N.

--\---\---\---\---\--- L <-----> R W ------ E.

Everything is correct.

M is at left corner as O has to sit right to it. If we take it at right corner no one can sit right to it.
