Both the cases are possible, clockwise and anticlockwise. Is there any preference which should we choose?

It is apparent that there are two arrangements possible here. Both satisfying the conditions given.
Now, to the question to which one we should choose if we come across such situation in exam, we have two options:
1. Answer choice will not match with your answer, try to find another arrangement if you have time. Obviously, you will choose to find another answer only if you are damn sure.
2. Leave the question. Because, if the data given is not adequate for you, it is not adequate for other examine too. May be after exam, the authority will take any action to compensate.

Data is insufficient to place them. Left/right should be mentioned for Lalit, Dipa, Pankaj and Prity.

In question he asked that who is right of Prakash. So according to your circular arrangement the answer should be Deepa not Lalit.
