I have one doubt friends. Should I always assume that 'next' means it will be always the immediate one? particularly in this type of questions.

There are contradictory conditions.
I. C is next to D.
II. A and C are sitting together.
Position of C is clear so D is next to it that is at right end.

i) D is not sitting with E who is on the left end of the bench.
Ans: E _ _ _ _
ii) C is on the second position from the right.
Ans: E _ _ C _
iii) A is to the right of B and E.
Ans: E B A C _ or E B A C D
So answer is option B.
Ans: E _ _ _ _
ii) C is on the second position from the right.
Ans: E _ _ C _
iii) A is to the right of B and E.
Ans: E B A C _ or E B A C D
So answer is option B.

Yes @Vasavi is right.
Here "sitting next" doesn't mean that it will be on right side only. It may on either left or right side. But here in the question it clearly mention that A is right to B and hence A is placed right to B. In question it also mention that C position is 2nd from the right so here no option is left, you have to place the D on right side of C.
Hence the equation must be E B A C D.

There are 5 sitting in a bench, You could always start with the one which is clearly mentioned which is "E", E is sitting in the Left End,
It is mentioned that "A" is sitting to the right of "E" & "B" so Now we found the 3 seats from Left which is "E", "B", "A".
It is also given that "A" & "C" are sitting together which means "E", "B", "A", "C" and the remaining is "D".

Vigneshwaran K.S is correct
Don't assume 'next' means it should be RIGHT side.
