I think the answer is East. As Vishal's shadow is left to Uday so definitely the sun should be back of Vishal. (As per light -object-shadow reln).
So definitely, Uday is facing towards the sun i.e. East.

Generally, we take the north direction upwards, west on the left side, east on the right and south towards downwards. According to that, the direction of Udai facing will be east.
