Here one of the two common faces (5) is in the same position, then according to the rule no (2) the remaining face with the 4 dots will be opposite to face with dots 2.

By rule 2 if any two numbers are same irrespective of their position, then the remaining numbers are opposite to each other. In this case, 5 and 1 are there on both the dice, so remaining numbers 4 and 2 are opposite to each other.

I agree 2 is the right answer.
1 faces ---- 1 dot + 5 dot = 7 (that means simple dice ).
&
2 faces --- 1 dot +5 dot = 7 (that means simple dice ).
So rest faces will be 2 dots on the 1 dice & 4 dots on the 2 dice.
So, ans is 4 opposite 2.

Rule of two common faces in the same position is not using in this question. Use the rule of the 2common number in the faces then the uncommon number is opposite.
