Question: How much was the total sale of the company ?

Statements:

  1. The company sold 8000 units of product A each costing Rs. 25.
  2. This company has no other product line.

I alone is sufficient while II alone is not sufficient
II alone is sufficient while I alone is not sufficient
Either I or II is sufficient
Neither I nor II is sufficient
Both I and II are sufficient
Answer: Option
Explanation:

From I, total sale of product A = Rs. (8000 x 25) = Rs. 200000.

From II, we know that the company deals only in product A.

This implies that sale of product A is the total sale of the company, which is Rs. 200000.

I think that option A is correct, as per the given data the first tells about the sales and the second acknowledges that there is no other product line.

The reason I prefer the answer as option A is that the second data alone could not be sufficient to come up with a decision. Maybe there should be an option stating I and II are both required.

As a question about the total sale of the company.

To know the total sale option1 not alone sufficient 1st of all we need to know with how many products the company deals with? So option2 in need that says company deals with only one product that satisfy the part of a question. And finally, we need both options.

Statement 2 alone is not sufficient to answer the above question because we do not get any estimate of the data hence we can not calculate the actual earning while the combination of both the statement can provide a feasible solution. Hence A is correct.

How can the sale of the company can determine if Only cost price is given?

It is written there that it is a cost price and not a selling price.

How come the option 2 assume that they sell the same amount and price the same as option 1? Shouldn't 2 statements be evaluated differently?

But, question requirement is selling price not cost price,

As cost price is different from selling price.

Both not sufficient.
