The question mentioned here is Lata's grandfather. The grandfather can be Lata's Maternal Grandfather or Paternal Grandfather. If the grandfather is paternal grandfather, then the man in the photo is a brother to Lata. If the grandfather is a maternal grandfather, then the boy is a cousin to Lata.

Here they have mentioned the only son but that doesn't mean Lata's grandfather cannot be having a daughter and one son.
Here there are two possibilities one is;
She may be the daughter of that only son of her grandfather or Her grandfather could have had one son and another daughter.

Lata grandfather's only son her father. Question is he is the son of the only son of my grandfather. "He is the son" denotes Lata's father's son. So Lata is a brother of photographer.
