But we don't know whether A is male or female....

The answer will be "c" because whatever you give the explanation is right, but niece is not there in the option. So we conclude that the answer is definitely "C".

If the Option given is nephew which is the near most relation to A & hence Whatever the options be when the sex is not mentioned we will not consider it & hence I think option c "nephew" is correct answer.
As far as my Knowledge if wrong please discuss further.
