Correct Option: Cannot be decided because we don’t know whether X is a son or a daughter.

How ? Because we have no idea about the gender of x. So we can't decide.
That it is son or daughter! Correct me, if I am wrong.

I think option D is correct
Because X tells his friend Y.
So, Y is male but X's gender is not clear.

According to me, It is mentioned that "X said to his friend Y". Here, "His refers to Y not to X"!
So the answer should be option D.
So the answer should be option D.

You can see the statement that x said to "His" friend Y. So, here "his" determines that X is a male and that is how option B is correct.

Option D should be the correct answer because the gender of X is not mentioned clearly. Although in the beginning it is written that X said to his friend but this also does not reveal the gender of X clearly.
From this statement, we get the gender of X's friend but not the gender of X.
From this statement, we get the gender of X's friend but not the gender of X.

I think son is the right answer because according to the situation, that lady must be X's mother, so here doubt is about the gender of x, but they used the word his in the starting. So x must be a male.
