Look at the options in A and D option we don't know the gender of P so leave it for moment look at option B here P is female cause P+S so leave it, now in option C start from left * mean Q's sister then + mean Q's sister mother . i.e mean Q's mother. Then - means Q's mother brother i.e maternal uncle.
Remember always start from left.

It was very simple.
1st see which option start form "P" ->
[B]. P + S x N - Q.
[C]. P - M + N x Q.
Start with option B = P + S = P is the mother of S = wrong equation.
Start with option C = P - M = P is the brother of M.
M + N = M is the mother of N.
N * Q = N is the sister of Q.
Q. Which of the following shows that P is the maternal uncle of?
ANS. C.

I got the answer to the question. But I don't see why you need the * bit in the answer. Shouldn't it just be P-M+Q as Q is the child of M and P is the brother of M, making P the maternal uncle of Q. It is surely a more correct way of putting it?

Why can't it be P-M+Q?
