A man has Rs. 480 in the denominations of one-rupee notes, five-rupee notes and ten-rupee notes. The number of notes of each denomination is equal. What is the total number of notes that he has ?

 [A]. 45 [B]. 60 [C]. 75 [D]. 90

Answer: Option D

Explanation:

Let number of notes of each denomination be x.

Then, x + 5x + 10x = 480 16x = 480 x = 30.

Hence, total number of notes = 3x = 90.

Sneharavi said: (Jan 15, 2014) Because the man has 3 notes (1, 5, 10 rupee respectively).

Imran Ali said: (Oct 17, 2014) DENOMINATION MEANS NUMBER OF NOTE, in q question number of notes are equal, that's why we multiplied x with 3, means we have 90 notes, whom 30 of 1 rupees, 30 of 5 rupee, 30 of 10 rupee.

Aaushi said: (May 10, 2016) You can also solve it as 1(one rupee note ) + 5(rupee note ) +10( rupee note ) =16. Then 480/16 = 30. Since all notes have an equal number so 30 each note, then total will be 30 * 3 = 90.

 Naveen Bajjuri said: (Nov 6, 2016) Total Rs. 480. 1 : 5 : 10. 480/16 = 30. That means one rupee 30 notes = Rs. 30. 5 rupees 30 notes = 150. 10 rupees 30 notes = 300. Total = Rs. 480.

Rajendra Prashad said: (Mar 3, 2017) Denominations means different value of notes like one rupee note, five rupee note, twenty rupee note.

 Akash said: (Jul 8, 2017) 10*40=400 10 rupe*40. 5*15=75, 1*5=5. So total 60 notes we need how 90?
