A bus starts from city X. The number of women in the bus is half of the number of men. In city Y, 10 men leave the bus and five women enter. Now, number of men and women is equal. In the beginning, how many passengers entered the bus ?
Answer: Option
Explanation:
Originally, let number of women = x. Then, number of men = 2x.
So, in city Y, we have : (2x - 10) = (x + 5) or x - 15.
Therefore Total number of passengers in the beginning = (x + 2x) = 3x = 45.

Let X be women and y be men.
In city X,
x=1/2y----------> Eq 1.
In city Y.
y-10=x+5----------> Eq 2.
Solving 1 and 2
We get x=15 y=30, summing up 45 is the total count.
In city X,
x=1/2y----------> Eq 1.
In city Y.
y-10=x+5----------> Eq 2.
Solving 1 and 2
We get x=15 y=30, summing up 45 is the total count.

@All.
Men + Women = 25+25.
by leaving m=10 entered w=5.
m+w= 50-10+5=45.
Men + Women = 25+25.
by leaving m=10 entered w=5.
m+w= 50-10+5=45.

Total number of pax-50.
No.of women-25,
No.of men-25,
So, 50-10 = 40,
40+5 = 45.
No.of women-25,
No.of men-25,
So, 50-10 = 40,
40+5 = 45.

Let the no. of men in city X = A.
No. of women in city X = A/2.
When bus reached at city Y.
No of men = A-10......equ(1).
And no of women = A/2+5...equ(2).
Comparing (1) and (2).
A-10 = A/2 = 5.
A-10 = A+10/2(L.C.M OF A/2+5).
2A-20 = A+10.
2A-A = 10+20.
A = 30.
So the no.of men at city X = 30.
No.of womens = A/2 = 30/2 = 15.
In the beginning total no.of passengers entered in the bus = 30 +15 = 45.
No. of women in city X = A/2.
When bus reached at city Y.
No of men = A-10......equ(1).
And no of women = A/2+5...equ(2).
Comparing (1) and (2).
A-10 = A/2 = 5.
A-10 = A+10/2(L.C.M OF A/2+5).
2A-20 = A+10.
2A-A = 10+20.
A = 30.
So the no.of men at city X = 30.
No.of womens = A/2 = 30/2 = 15.
In the beginning total no.of passengers entered in the bus = 30 +15 = 45.

Let the no.of men = x
So no.of women = x/2
In city y..... (x-10)=(x/2+5)
(2x-20)=(x+10)
x=30.
Because the no.of women were half the no of men therefore total no.of passengers in the beginning = 30+15
45
So no.of women = x/2
In city y..... (x-10)=(x/2+5)
(2x-20)=(x+10)
x=30.
Because the no.of women were half the no of men therefore total no.of passengers in the beginning = 30+15
45
