Aruna cut a cake into two halves and cuts one half into smaller pieces of equal size. Each of the small pieces is twenty grams in weight. If she has seven pieces of the cake in all with her, how heavy was the original cake ?
Answer: Option
Explanation:
The seven pieces consist of 6 smaller equal pieces and one half cake piece.
Weight of each small piece = 20 g.
So, total weight of the cake = [2 x (20 x6)]g= 240 g.

See as per a given statement.
Cake is divided into 2 half.
She cuts one-half into the equal number of small pieces and each piece is 20 grams in weight.
Now she is having several pieces as a total (given).
Answer:
That seven pieces in nothing but.
One piece+six piece.
Here one piece is half of that cake stated in the first line.
Remaining 6 pieces.
So 6 * 20 = 120.
120 is just one-half of the cake so another half is also 120.
120 + 120 = 240.

Arithmetic Reasoning is not just about numbers it can also assess your understanding of complex sentences. The statement, "If she has seven pieces of the cake in all with her".
The last few words ''in all with her" states that that count was made as such with all the pieces available to her. If the statement read "seven small pieces of cake in all with her" then the answer would have been different.
