Crisis generally needs to be supported by some description; say, economic crisis, water crisis etc. So it basically a type of problem and needs a descriptive to complete its meaning and takes form of a noun. But, misfortune and adversity both are complete in themselves, and are adverbs (adverb of time).

Misfortune: bad luck, or an unlucky event.
