The sentence is in PAST PERFECT tense. So, the correct sentence will be : No sooner had I opened the door than the rain, heavy and stormy, rushed in making us shiver from head to foot.

'Nosooner' and than in b/w sentence relationshp i think so.
nosooner did i open the door is correct at the same time the above one is also correct

There are many such words. For eg.:

Not only.... but also
Scarcely.....when
Both ..... and
Hardly ..... when. etc.
