I think for the doubt of stronger and strongest:
Here the match is being played between two, so the comparison would be related by stronger. If would be a tournament then strongest would be optimum.

Yeah. I too have the same doubt. I think it must be "the strongest" instead of "the stronger". Can anyone clear my doubt?
