It is Comparative degree not superlative that's why stronger is used instead of strongest.

The correct form is not "whole heartedly" either, it's "wholeheartedly in one word".

Could anyone please explain me the reason of that answer?

I think there should be strongest instead of 'stronger' because 'the' is the superlative degree.

I think for the doubt of stronger and strongest:

Here the match is being played between two, so the comparison would be related by stronger. If would be a tournament then strongest would be optimum.
