'now' refers to present. Hence, it should have been "the brand proposition then, therefore had to be", or it could have been "the brand proposition now therefore is/has to be".

In option C, the comma is placed incorrectly. Blemish, free is entirely changing the meaning of the sentence. The comma between "blemish" and "free" shouldn't be there at all.

Brand proposition is existing now i.e. present. So there should be use of present tense and answer A is correct.

Also I think there is mistake with C it shouldn't be just "cope with" it should be "cope up with".

Answer can be option C but I think its just a printing error. The error in option A is more vital.
