We don't use preposition before/after certain verbs investigate, discuss, ordered etc.

And the sentence will be " we discussed the problem throughly".

Here "discussed " means "talking about". So I think again we need to mention "about".

It's a superflous case where discuss means talk about. So, the Answer A is correct.

Discussed doesn't take any preposition, resembles also but resemblance can take to.
