What is the difference b/w on part of & behalf of?

Why isn't it 'a lot of travel delays are caused'? 'a lot' is plural, right?

Also, it is OK to say 'from the part of'?

We use 'on the behalf of' for favorable things or for good things. We do not use this for errors and for wrong things. For example. He kidnapped me on the behalf of Don. This sentence is wrong. In above sentence the same thing is happening that's why 'on the behalf is wrong' in that sentence.

Instead of 'travel delay','travelling delay' should have been used. Isn't it so?

Before you answer, you just read the sentences 2 to 3 times, then you can easily identify the wrong one.

The distinction is that on behalf of someone means "for someone's benefit" or "representing someone", while on the part of someone can be roughly paraphrased as "by someone".

@Manya. I agree with you, it should either be travelling delay or delay in travel.

'on behalf of' refers to individuals only.

I think behalf of the means, one of the partner of the railways department, so we use on part of.
