Read each sentence to find out whether there is any grammatical error in it. The error, if any will be in one part of the sentence. The letter of that part is the answer. If there is no error, the answer is 'D'. (Ignore the errors of punctuation, if any).

Here you can see instead of inspite = in spite. So this is also wrong.

                     (1)

Why we use gerund in place of infinitives? Can anyone explain to me?

"persist" word must followed by gerund verb. It's a grammar rule.

The solution is wrong. After "to" verb should be in simple form.
