@ Dhairya Lakhera - Your point is valid and the correct answer should be option 'C' . In option B the Noun clause is replaced by a Noun phrase and it is perfectly fine.

Example:

Do you know English - correct
Do you know how to make out - correct
DO you know to count beans - correct

@ Kartikeya - Your point is logical except, for referring a general object we should use 'a'

The correct sentance should be:

1- Do you know how to play a guitar?

Or

2- Do you know to play a guitar?

Hope this helps.

I think it should be option (C) , because 'do you know to play guitar' makes more sense. Ultimately, it is the widely spoken style that should be accepted as correct usage going by Norman Lewis.

It is a better sense do you know how to play to guitar?

Can't the "how" come with the option (A), the answer is ridiculous!!

"Do you know how to play the guitar?" is right...

i expect to get a prize.
//here "to get a prize" is noun phrase

i expect that i shall get a prize.
// here "that i shall get a prize" is noun clause.

Similarly "how to play" is noun clause and "to play" is a noun phrase which is replacing the noun clause.

@Md.yousuf:

Yeah but may i know about option-c since i feel that "Do u know how to play guitar?" makes better sense when compared to "do u know how to play the guitar?"

We should remember that tests on English Language are generally designed to test the knowledge of written English and not the colloquial English. In written English the correct sentence is ----- Do you know how to play guitar? It is a different matter how you speak while talking to somebody.
