I think here correction required in 2nd part of the statement. That should be "to office" instead of "to the office".

I think the answer is B. Because father goes to office is a primary purpose, So we should omit articles there.

When we speak about the days in a week, we always use the phrases like "two days a week", "24 hrs a day" etc. I hope it clears the doubt.
