"would" is past tense, and we are talking of present.

'THE' is used with the particular point in time or with things which are specific.

For example: "I saw the north pole Star in the sky".

We have only 1 sky i.e. the particular thing, here in the sentence juncture means a particular point in time so we use 'THE' as a article here.

JUNCTURE is being specified by the word "present" so definite article must be there before present.
