I think the population of Tokyo is greater than any other town in the world. Option (D) should be correct answer.

The Correct answer would be - A.

Because here we are comparing Tokyo with all other towns in the world. So we describe with among over here.

I think option A. Sentence itself showing the superlative form of population of Tokyo. Using among, city's population can be easily compared.

Greater than any other is correct.

I think answer should be A.

Because population of Tokyo is comparing with all the country except itself. So "Superlative degree" should be used.

This sent ace really talks about population. Even though it mentions towns, it really means the people in the town. Therefore tokyo's population is compared with other city in the world. Hence use of superlative is the grammar. Answer is A only.

When we compare a particular thing of a place to another place's particular thing.

Then we generally use that of and those of.

Example:- Delhi's boys are more intelligent than that of Agra.

But the answer should be A Because it is comparing all the towns of the world and for comparing more than two things superlative degree should be used.

And while seeking all the towns over the world greatest word should be used.

Now here we are comparing population (main focus) not the town.

If population is focused than the marked answer is correct. Also, Population is uncountable noun and singular use so no use of 'Those'.

The population of Tokyo is greater than that of any other town in the world. (correct).

The other way could be:

The population of Tokyo is greatest among all other town in the world. (but that again is not any of the option).

Now lets have bottom up approach.

Option A- superlative degree used and any other refers to individual city. Greatest among any other (incorrect) greatest among all other (correct).

Option B - you can deduce from above point that it's incorrect.

Option C& D- see the first & second paragraph.

Superlative adjective (greatest) is used to compare more than two objectives. So I think A is answer.
